In the state of Georgia, when you receive a DUI, reckless driving, possession of a controlled substance, or other similar charges, a clinical evaluation is usually ordered by the courts and becomes a requirement of probation. A clinical evaluation is a process that MUST be facilitated by a DBHDD-approved licensed or certified professional who works in the field of addiction. Often, facilities will advertise that they do Drug and Alcohol evaluations but if they are not on the DBHDD registry, they will NOT count toward your probation and court requirements. You must select a clinical evaluator from the DBHDD-approved list!
Based on the clinical evaluator’s professional judgment, treatment may be recommended.. Treatment means attendance and participation in the type of program recommended by the evaluator and is based on ASAM criteria. Upon completion of a clinical evaluation, an appropriate ASAM level of care will be recommended. The minimum amount of treatment is six (6) weeks. The maximum amount of treatment is fifty-two (52) weeks.
Jon House is a DBHDD-approved licensed or certified professional who works in the field of addiction, is on the State of Georgia DBHDD registry, and is in recovery himself. Jon is a fair and honest clinical evaluator who does not believe in state-mandated treatment for all and works hard to place clients within an appropriate ASAM level of care!
